“I still remember the contract arriving in the mail and the excitement of signing my first book deal.
“But, that was nothing compared to the feeling of unboxing the first print run of my novel and actually holding it in my hands.
“This labour of love I’d spent so much time and effort on, a story I wanted to tell, was there in paperback and the smell of the perfectly printed books was intoxicating.”
Our Story
In 2018, I published my first novel. It was a confusing process and there were certainly times when I thought about giving up because it was all too hard. But I eventually found a publisher in the UK. I’ve recently taken back the rights to my six novels and have published them through Jeffrey + Wallace Publishing.
The most common conversation I have with people is about the publishing process and how it works. They’ve written a book or have an idea for one, but don’t know where to start. The fact is millions of books are published around the world every year, while millions more sit on the floors of the big publishing houses waiting to be read, but the reality is they may never be picked up. I decided to start Jeffrey + Wallace Publishing to help authors get their books published - to bring their stories to the world!
It’s my hope in a few years I will be able to offer even more services and types of contracts, including more traditional contracts, but until then I’m offering authors publishing partnership contracts. These contracts, like elevated self-publishing, let you keep the full copyright of your work and creative control, while I work for you to handle the administration, marketing and editing. It’s your book, we’re just here to help! We also put in our own time, effort and resources to ensure we’ve got skin in the game on making your book a success.
So who am I? Well, my novels are published under the pseudonym, Xavier Wallace. I chose a pseudonym as at the time of writing my first novel I was a senior adviser to a Minister in the Australian Government and I wasn’t sure what the press would say about me writing a gay spy thriller in my spare time. Turns out even when I left working up the Hill, the press still had some fun with it - see the article in the Daily Telegraph here. Nothing like a bit of a “Saucy Secret” to get some attention!
My real name is Isaac Jeffrey. I grew up in regional New South Wales and went to the local public primary and high schools, before heading to Newcastle Uni where I attained a Bachelor of Business (Honours) degree. Straight out of uni, I moved to Canberra to work for the Department of Defence, before going to work in politics for various Ministers, Shadow Ministers and political parties. I’ve gone on to be CEO of advocacy and industry groups, and have sat on a couple of different boards, including KidSafe ACT as Treasurer. I have a Master of Politics and Policy, and I’m a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. I own a public relations and advocacy company, called AptStart. I’ve also completed Screenwriting and Voice Over courses with the Australian Film, Television and Radio School.
But after all that, my passion is still for writing, reading and story telling which is why I started Jeffrey + Wallace Publishing. Throughout my career, I have written more speeches, media releases, policies, opinion pieces, academic papers and national advertising campaigns, than I care to remember. But it is my six published and two soon to be published novels that I hold closest to my heart. I want to help others find that passion and see it in the flesh with their own published novels!
My writing experience will help with editing and launching your novel, while my experience in business and communications will help launch your personal brand and promote your work. I’m truly excited about the opportunity to help you achieve your goal of publishing your book, so please reach out today, submit your manuscript and let’s see how we can create a publishing partnership which gets your book into the hands of your audience!
